Here is the light side. Tomorrow is Linda's birthday and Paul is fixing her a super duper pie with lots of whipped cream! I didn't see one invite from the b'day girl to any of us on here. It seems like she has been partying since the weekend, doesn't it to all of you? Maybe we all should go back to 55 and see if we can have a big blow out for our birthdays. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Linda an afternoon early. Hope your day is all you would like for it to be. Well, to be honest, Rodney, I don't think I'd like to go back to 55 now. Back when I was 55 my daughter wasn't even married. Nope, don't want to go that route again. I like it that she has someone else to take care of her for a change. She wasn't exactly a late bloomer but her mother had always told her to get her education and work a while before marriage so she would know what it is like in the world. She took me at my word and didn't marry until she was almost 29. Now she is 40 and has a 3 year old daughter. Rodney, you asked if Alvin has killed a deer. No, he saw a few doe this morning but he knew we needed to go to town and shop so tomorrow he will be looking to get the meat for the freezer. He processes his own meat so this morning he just didn't have time to mess with it. I think he was just enjoying the sight. Gun season opened Saturday but we weren't home. He hasn't missed too many first days in his hunting days, but he missed this one. Also he usually kills one on the first day. He will kill one or two and then he will just wait on the big buck. When he gets tired of waiting, he will go back to squirrel hunting. Our trip to the Trade Days in Canton, TX, was fun, and we bought a few things that we liked. They had a lot of Christmas stuff out and a lot of Christian things. I wish I had gotten the handmade Fruit of the Spirit sign. They were everywhere and at the moment I couldn't think where I would put it. They were about 4 or 5' long so was doubtful about being able to use it. I found a place as soon as I got home. There were also a lot of different arrangements of crosses that I would have loved getting for Stacey since she collects them but they were a bit pricey. Carroll, Alvin met a knife maker that had a display of his knives. He and Alvin talked a good bit and the man gave Alvin a lot of good info. One was a workshop in NC on knifemaking. We may go if we find out when the next one is being held. It is held at a community college. He said the guy that held the workshop sold knives for $8,000. Imagine that! Alvin also met an artist and they discussed technique etc so he was really having a ball. Hello Marcie. What kind of computer did you get? Do you have Windows 7 on yours? I looked at laptops today but I need one of the big ones because I can't see those tiny screens. Janis, you sound like you are really busy but I bet you enjoy all that. I don't want to do anymore teaching but I would love to volunteer somewhere. We are just too far from anyplace like you are doing. Keep up the good work. How's practice going for the Christmas entertainment at church? Chris, hope you get all that stuff done that needs doing before the hard winter hits. Where do you get the pellets for your pellet stove? Did you get the frig in? Stay well. Hope I didn't miss anyone else but if so I didn't mean to. I've already forgotten what was on the other page. Take care and have a good week and a good day tomorrow. I wish all of you some bright sunshine so you can get outside and enjoy it before winter really hits. Betty Life Member. Rodney, I forgot to address your question about the hibiscus seeds. I put my seeds (all kinds) on a newspaper to let them dry, then you can put them in whatever you like. I usually allow 2-3 weeks for drying. Does that help? I bought some little money envelopes for putting seeds in. The ones I have now look like a tiny envelope which is not my favorite. I like the actual money envelope that is about 2 or 3" long with the opening at the top. I've not found any of those lately. Betty Life Member. Zone 8, northcentral Louisiana.

hey al i am still here, somewhere! oh there i am, its my behind grandma used to have a sign that said "the hurrier i go, the behinder i get" thanks everyone. i did get the fridge in and hooked up. it is a huge monolith in our kitchen, lol. 7' tall 4' wide. big enough i suppose. linda can keep some of her pies in it i am doing stuff but more rain for us. we had a baby hail today, tapping on our windows. betty, you can get the pellets at most home stores or hardware and our feed store carries them too. pretty popular items around here. i am working on the spot to put the stove now. marcie, i am very happy with windows xp too. a very good program i think. i was tempted to look at 7 but i dont like change, lol. glad to see you back, i missed you. your farm animals were wondering when you would come back too. things have been good and bad, so i guess it all works out in the end. i got the tool to bend galvanized fence rails into hoops for greenhouses. we just need a few dry days to get stuff done. we are building a 12 x 20 GH to start off with and i have all the supplies now. i would love to put in a flower order so i have plants in the spring as well as trees and shrubs but we will see. i have been getting stuff for the business which leaves jeff to pay bills, so things are tight but we will make it. we made it before i had disability so its a piece of cake now, lol. not. but in the end it will be better for us both. glad everyone is doing well and getting older to prove it. happy b-day again linda. i didnt realize i was so early but your name popped up with the birthday reminder, lol. a handy thing really. i treated myself to a couple of bulbs the other day. a couple of different trilliums besides the common white. one is yellow and the other has verrigated leaves. guess that is it from me. will see you all soon.

Morning all. It's so far 32* here this morning. We will see what the day brings. As for my appt. yesterday, the dr. was great. I have SIJ pain from the sounds of it. You have a joint that is down at the base of your spine that connects your spine to your hips. It's that joint that is causing all the grief. As the dr. was explaining it in dr. terms, I asked to explain it in english so Mark and I understood it. And last night I looked it up. He gave me some samples of Lidoderm to try to relieve some of the pain (so far it hasn't done anything yet), plus he's having me have some physical therapy. That's hopefully in the next town over where we go grocery shopping. He said if the patches work, then I could be good for a cortizone shot. Time will tell. We go back to see him in 6 weeks. On a different note, they are clling for us to see some of that white stuff by Friday morning. Now who went and crused us? We don't need any snow here yet. Hope all my friends have a wonderful sunny day today. Life Member, Cecile

And thank goodness she told ya'll what was wrong in english,,not gibber gabber,,lol. I have to tell them to , to not speak in some other language.lol. It was cold here but not as bad as you. Cecile.Up into the low 50's now and going to be a great sunny day today..Hope the bad word doesn't hit you yet,,To early for that. Everyone,,have a good day..Will check back later.. Linda z6 KY.

Good morning Gang, Had to take a break. I'm working on church library book processing so it gets tedious after awhile. I love to read the books but wish I didn't have to process them! Really, it isn't so bad, just hard on the eyes. Chris, so good that you are getting the greenhouse going. Now if the weather will just cooperate with you. You and Linda both sound like you are getting in the selling business. Wow! What a frig! Keep a few of Linda's pies in there and we'll all come up and eat them for you. I LUV coconut cream and pecan and neither of them like me. Chris, I'm with you and Marcie. I'm happy with XP and don't like change too much either. Rodney, did you get the pictures I sent you by email? Thought you'd enjoy them, especially the one of Alvin and Avery, the two A's. When you finish raking your leaves, come on down to LA and rake ours. The only problem is they haven't fallen yet. Reckon you could shake the trees and make them go ahead and fall! Wish I had some of that turkey. You are making me hungry. By the way, Alvin got his deer this morning. Linda, can I run up there and help you spend your b'day money! That's good of the new daughters-in-law to send you money so you can pick out what you want. Have you met these ladies? Well, guess I'd better get back to typing on the typewriter instead of this computer. Not getting all that work done this way. Talk later. Betty Life Member. Zone 8, northcentral Louisiana.

Good afternoon! Just back from delivering meals and found the house smokey. Apparently John overloaded the woodstove and it never took, just smoldered while we were gone. It does look and smell better in here now.
We will head out about 5 to go to auction tonight. It will be fun to see what they have. Maybe I'll get a fake tree to put in the little bobsled. And plenty of fake poinsettias.
Have a lovely evening!.

Good morning! It is a chilly morning, can still see frost on the leaves on the ground. The sun is up, but weather forcaster doesn't seem promising for it staying out.
*****
Auction was fun, nothing for the bobsled. I did get a padded basket for the cat. She has been in it a few times when she thinks we aren't looking. John got some oil based stains to do the planters, including the wishing well one. Hopefully we will have a day or two to get them done before the snow falls.
*****
We have to do a few errands today. John wants to replace the rope around the woodstove door.
Have a great day!!!

Good morning! It is up to 31 now and heading to 58----WHOOHOO!!! We should be rid of the snow today then. Both dogs are back in as the hunters are out there. ***** KS, I'm perfectly willing to share and or all of our snow all season long. It would be nice if you took some of it. ****** Leaves here are all wet again. At this rate will not get them raked up before snow is here to stay. They have covered the flower beds, that is one consolation. ***** Have a great Saturday!! Marcie

Good morning Gang, I'm ok, Linda, thanks. I had a doctor's appointment in Shreveport yesterday and we didn't get back in until 4:00 or so. Too tired to get on and too Alvin has the flu. I've got to get in touch with our pharmacist this morning for something for him. The doctor here says that all flu now is considered to be H1N1, regardless. I think Alvin's is the regular kind but they will say H1N1. Time to begin a new thread. So read here but post on the new one. Thanks Betty Life Member. Zone 8, northcentral Louisiana.

just want to add one thing. good linda, now you and i can share secret sources for trees, lol. i hope it does well for you. it looks like my nursery will be mostly trees and shrubs next yr unless i find some lost money i wanted to place a flower order but it may or may not happen yet. thats ok really, but i wanted more. i am only in the first year and they warn about growing to fast for yourself. sooner or later, lol. oh and i have a permenant deal with another nursery to take all their one gallon pots off their hands! they grow larger trees so when they get the gallon size they dont have a use for them. well i do! lol. saves me a ton of money, all i have to do is rinse and wash them in a bleach bucket and reuse them. you should look around for something like that. betty, saving room for the pies.
