About a week ago, I noticed a white substance on the leaves on my vine peach plants. It looks like a powder, but does not wash off and the vines are dieing. It has since spread to my cucumber vines and is killing them also. It starts at the the beginning of the vine near the roots and spreads very fast. Does any body know what this is and if there is a cure or remedy? Should I pull out the affected plants and destroy them?

It sounds as you may have powdery mildew. You can spray with a fungicide labeled for powdery mildew , but it needs to be done very early before the PM really gets going. Sorry I didn't see your post earlier.

Thanks Joyce, You are right, It's powdery mildew. I googled it online and there were pictures of the disease that looked exactly like the problem I have. This disease spreads FAST! Unfortunately I lost most of my cucumbers and all of my vine peaches. I also see some of the PM on my pumpkin vines. I'm not sure if peonies can get PM but some of them look like they are also infected. Thanks again Joyce, for taking the time to answer my Question. best regards, Dave, zone 6 MA. life member
