Kick back and relax
I love to walk barefoot in the grass, or simply sit and admire the yard. Sometimes, I lie back and look at the clouds with my daughter, feeling the cool grass beneath us.

Yards, not lawns
Where I live, we don't have lawns; we have yards. Lawns grow only grass. Yards grow kids, puppies, toy trucks, and dandelions.

Valuable veggies
A well-maintained lawn looks pretty, but that's about it. I'd rather spend the water, time, and energy on planting a vegetable garden, which not only looks pretty, but also produces delicious and healthy vegetables to eat.

Letting nature nurture
My lawn is on a hill. Over the years, it has become less and less important since it is hard to mow. I have decided to let nature have its way with it and have been happy with the field of ox-eye daisies instead.

Nice and easy
We have a small lawn in the shape of a heart. The lawn is surrounded by perennial beds and is a nice complement to our landscaping.

Lawn be gone
What lawn? I keep trying to find ways to hide the weeds that pass for grass in my yard. The more things I can grow in containers to cover the lawn, the better.

I have an acre plot surrounded by forest. My house is on a rock shelve,my yard consists of all terrain, wetland, rock,sandy and clay. It was mostly a ratty lawn that was difficult to mow. It is now full of flower gardens, vegetable garden, lilacs,rugosa rose and Jeruselem artichokes and a much smaller lawn.The kids and wildlife love it.

Iv'e seen yards made of pea gravel and potted flowers and such spread across. it seems like it would be rather easy to maintain and it also looks amazing!

I live in the desert. There is just not enough water to have a lawn. And, the local wild rabbits chew any grass down to the nub. A freind of mine installed a really nice, high priced, artificial grass.

IMO monoculture is a bad idea all around.
Unless one has a ball team or sheep, I see no reason for a large lawn

If you have a pretty good lawn and don't like to use chemicals you can use a product called Lawn Jaws which are an easy to grip tool and have unique laid back teeth that function like shark jaws. They get to the root of the weed and help you pull against it leaving virtually no hole or cutting in your lawn. Take a look at www.lawnjaws.com. You may be surprised!
