Brighten up your home with freshly cut, summery arrangements of garden flowers. To keep flowers looking great once they’re in a vase, the Netherlands Flower Bulb Information Center shares the following tips:
• Using a sharp knife, trim stems at an angle so the flower can absorb more water.
• Remove any foliage that might dangle into the water. If left in the water, the leaves will decay rapidly, smell bad, and pollute the water.
• Add a packet of cut-flower food, available almost everywhere flowers are sold.
• Keep an eye on the water level in your vase. You may have to add water every day, depending on how much your flowers drink.
