Don’t let your head be turned too much by the promise of a lifetime or other long-term warranty on a garden hose. Take warranties with a grain of salt—and read them carefully. It may seem like a great deal, but check the fine print. Do you need to keep the receipt? And if so, will you really keep track of that tiny piece of paper for years to come? Will the store where you purchased the hose be in business then? Or even the hose manufacturer?

The reality is that cashing in on a lifetime warranty would take a lot of organization, determination, memory, and luck. It’s probably smartest to buy a hose based on its overall quality and features, not on the warranty.
